PLUNKET GARDEN PARTY.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ROTORUA, Sunday. A garden party in connection with the Plunket Society at Rotoraa was held in Nurse Naumann's grounds on Saturday afternoon. In opening the function Dr. Hay, who was asked to speak by Mrs. W. F. Wilkie, president of the local committee, referred to the good work that was being done to help the settlers in the more distant parts of the district and how much the help of the society was appreciated. A large number of mothers, about 80 in all, with their babies were present and a Christmas tree hung with suitable gifts was the cause of great delight to the children. Miss Joan Urqußart gave some solo dances on the lawn, which were much enjoyed, and dances were given by little girls from the Convent school in dainty costumes. A stall fitted with useful articles realised £ll. The proceeds are in aid of the local Plunket committee's work. The afternoon was very enjoyable.
