ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES

YESTERDAY WORK. BY ARCHER. There was not iv great deal doing at Ellerslie yesterday. A few gallops were registered 011 the course proper, outside 0110 trestle, nnd ft number of horses also worked on tho No. 12 gross. COURSE PROPER Golden Wedding. Double Mini and Tancriri were associated over a mile and finished 111 tho order named. They ran the first four furlongs in 52 l-5s and completed, the full distance in 1.46 3-5. Qolden Wedding did her work really well. War Officer and Thursby were going comfortably for 'six furlongs in 1.25 1-5. War Officer looks well and lias been working very freely. Jolly Money, Sir Mond and To Money were not bustled to run five furlongs in 1.9 3-5. Jolly Money is 011 the improve and should strip in nice order next week. Catoma was allowed to stride along over three furlongs in 42 4-ss. Tho youngster is thriving on his work and should continue to come on steadily.' Bizarro easily defeated Diamond Queen over seven furlongs in 1.33 2-5. Bonny Day joined in over tho last four furlongs and finished alongside Bizarro. NO. 2 GRASS. Ei?ger Rose and King Emerald wero on terms at tho end of » round in 1.48 3-5. They ran tho last three furlongs in 41 4-5s and did their work nicely. Salamander wns going easily for six fur longs in 1.25. Beau Cavalier was allowed to stride along over the same distance. The Chesterfield gelding moved short. Gold Money pleased by running six fur longs in 1.16 1-5. She" did it easily and is in great order. Respirator covered six furlongs in 1.25 2-5. Winsome Boy went a furlong less in 1.4 3-5. Vallar easily ran four furlongs in 555. This gelding is doing well and will atrip in capital order when required to race again. Corinax moved freely over seven furlongs 111 1.32 3-5. lie was assisted over tho last four furlongs by Palmares. Lady's Boy gave Knight Town a break and finished alongside at the end of fivo furlongs in 1.3 3-5. Knight Town occupied 1.4 1-5. Bennio ran' four furlongs in 55 l-ss. Critique covered tho same distance in 52 l-ss. Potoanui was timed to run seven furlongp in 1.33 3-5. Tho big fellow is very bright and will be in good order for the summer meetings. Good Boy was responsible for seven furlongs in 1.31. Early in the season this hack was showing promise, but has not done as well as expected.

NOTES FROM THE TRACK. J, Williamson left for To Kuiti yesterday with Bombarder, Tho Thorn and The Lover. His charges are all in nice order and should perform well in their engagements at tho country meeting. Other horses to leave Ellerslie yesterday for To Kuiti wero Pekatahi, Brampton and Abbott's Delight. Threo unplaced performances are down against Tinopono this season, but he should be improved by the racing and may do better in the hack hurdle events at Te Kuiti. wliero tho class will not be strong. Tinopono is down on the minimum in the Kopaki Hurdles and may make a decent showing, although he is not likely to find it easy to cope with Stormy, who is one of the most promising hack hurdlers seen out this season.

It is some mouths sinco Star of the ,East had a race and nothing is known regarding his present condition. Star of tho East raced creditably anions tho hack hurdlers at Ellerslie in June and the following month won a steeplechase at headquarters. If he displays tho same form at Tc Kuiti, he should bo equal to racing prominently in tlie class ho win meet.

Frothblower is <ftn improving hack and he won well at his last start. His rqccnt racing is likely to have wrought improvement in liis condition and lie should give a good account of himself at Te Kuiti, where lie has engagements in hack events. Another improver engaged in the samo class at the meeting is Te Ngern, who notched a win and a seebnd at Te Rapa last month.

Without finishing very close up, Archeval shaped well enough in the novice class at the Dargavillo meeting to suggest that he possesses possibilities. Archeval has not come under notice in the meantime, but he is expected fo race at To Kuiti, where he is in tho Maiden Handicap on the opening day.

A couple of novices engaged in the Maiden Handicap at To Kuiti who have shaped fairly in previous outings this season aro Sporis King und Valroe. Sports King was second to Arikitoa at Avondale and Valroe notched a third at To Rapa last month. If tjiey have made any progress in tho meantime, they should show up in their coming engagements.

In his fivo starts this season Transformer has failed to race well and on that account his immediate prospects do not appear bright. It is possible, however, that ho has benefited by the racing and ho may do better any lime now. Transformed has a handy weight in the Te Kuiti Cup and would only requiro to repeat his best to prove difficult to beat.

Shorter races, than a. mile and a-quarter suit Siaosi best, but he has registered two thirds over that distance this season, and must therefore be given a chance in the Te Kuiti Cup. On their running at Whangarei there should be little between Siaosi and Papatu, but under tho higher scale of weights. Siaosi mny prove the better Siaosi is a fit horse and should go well in his coming engagement.

Last senson Whaka King was a winner in hack company and ho also notched minor placings among the open sprinters. So far he has accomplished- nothing this term, but ho is. in a class at To Kuiti thai should suit him nicely, despite tho fact that ho is at tho top of tho weights.

Although his form Ibis season has not been Rood, there is a disposition in some quarters to favour Tinokoa for the Te Kuiti Clip. Tinokoa is in with a handy weight and might run the mi!o and a-quarter tolerably well, although he has yet to win beyond n mile. It is interesting to ?ecall that Tinopai, dam of Tinokoa, won the event on no fewer than five occasions.

A slight mishap necessitated Kerry Dance missing his engagements at Whnngarei, but ho is evidently over the trouble, as he is booked to nice nt To Kuiti. At his last start Kerry Dunco mado a crcditnblo showing in a good hack field at Kllerslie and it is on tho cards that ho will muko an early return to tho winning list.

Ellerslio trnckwatehcrs will he very disappointed if Monetizo and Bulolo fail to lace prominently in their engagements at To Kuiti. Tho three-year-olds registered some attractive work before leaving headquarters and will only require to repeat their track'form to take a deal of beating

Tho decisive manner in which Hakijnoa beat a big field at Te Rupa last month left a very favourable impression and he is liltciy lo find good support in his engagements at To . Kuiti. Ilakanoa, should be susceptible to' a good deal of improvement and should bo worth following in his n«xt few Blurts.

When solidly supported in hack sprint events at the DnrgavilUi meeting Liaison failed to race up to expectations. Sljo was at the to)> of the weights in those races and possibly she may do better under a light impost mil oil g the sprinters at. Te Kuiti. Liaison ran second in a fair field at Avondale early in tho season.

In winning tho two sprint events at Whnngarei recently Tea Time demonstrated that he is in excellent trim. Tho Tea Tray gelding has been a consistent performer and looks liko proving very hard to beat in the sprint races at To Kuiti, notwithstanding that ho is at tho top of the weights. , R. McTavi'sb has been engaged to ride Bombarder. Tho Thorn, Brampton and Siaosi nt To Kuiti. At the same meeting S. Henderson will bo on Archeval and H. Goldfinch will steer Scliorr and Ah. AVcra.
