Vincent last evening:— Unsettled weather is indicated generally, with heavy showers, particularly in districts bordering on the west coast and in soutiion areas. Colder temperatures are expected, and there is a tendency for liuil and thunder in places near tho west coast of both islands. Westerly to northwesterly winds, strong and squally. Rough seas on the south-west Tasman Sea, and tho western coasts of New Zealand, llio disturbance of combined tropical and Antarctic influences is now operating over tho Dominion, following a temporary improvement a. secondary depression is developing at tho rear of t.lio primary storm system and a renewal of boisterous weather is indicated. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.601n. Midnight, Sunday .. -• 23.55 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist reported lust evening as follows: —A deep depression is covering tho New Zealand area and another equally deep one—situated over Eastern Australia—is advancing on to tho Tasman Sea. Indications arc for moderate to strong winds between southwest and west, later veering to northerly and increasing to gale force in many places. Seas rough on the west coast and rising elsewhere in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong south-west winds, veering to north-west and increasing to pales in tho Eastern r lasmiin Sea, with roug;h soas. Weather unsettled and showery in districts with a wostcrly aspect; elsewhere fair at first, but soon becoming generally unsettled, with rojn developing ir. most parts and some heavy falls. Thunder is probable in places. Warm temperatures. RAINFALL RECORD. Full in City (Hkuald gauge): 24 hours ended midnight, Oct. 22 i.ubin.
