The British s.teumei: Scotscraig, which was formerly known as the Hambleton Range, left Kilindini on October 1 for Melbourne and Sydney with a cargo of soda in hags. This is probably the first time in the history of Australia that a cargo of soda has been imported from tho abovo port. Kilindini is a small port to the south of Mombasa, British Enßt Africa, and so far very few vessels have called there while en routo to Australia. 0.0. N. COMPANY'S STEAMERS. The Roval Mail liner Niagara arrived from bydney last evening. She berthed at Uueen s Wharf to land 149 passengers for Auckland and to load cargo and mail and embark passengers for island ports and Canada. Fair weather prevailed on the trip except on Saturday night, when an exceptionally severe electric storm was experienced, accompanied by thunder and lightnintr and torrential rain. Thero was very little wind dnrirtg the storm which continued for about fivo hours. Afterwards the weather improved.
