VISIT OF CARDINAL CERETTI.
A DAY IN AUCKLAND.
Tho Papal Legato to the recent Eucharistic Congress in Sydney, Cardinal Ceretti, will arrive at Auckland on November 19 by the Aorangi from Sydney on his way baclj to Home. During the congress it was not expected tho legato would be able to visit New Zealand, and the news of the change of programme was brought by tho Eight Rev. Dr. P. E. Magennis, General of the Order of Carmelites, who arrived from Sydney by the Niagara last evening. Dr. Magennis has his headquarters in Rome, and he is on his way back after attending the congress. "Cardinal Cerotti was scheduled to rnturn by this steamer, but he decided to remain in Australia for another month," said Dr. Magennis. It is understood Cardinal Ceretti will remain only a day in Auckland, continuing the voyage to Vancouver by tho Aorangi. He will rcceivo a welcomo from local clergy and laity, and facilities will be provided for him to see as much of the city as possible during his short stay. Travelling by the Niagara arc a number of prelates who have been attending tho congress. Tho party comprises Father L. D. Flanagan, of New York, provincial of tho Carmelites, Father J. A. Hogan. of Philadelphia, and a member of the Order of St. Augustine, Dr. D. McGrath. of Rome, member of the Order of St. Augustine, Father J. Kicjv and Father H. A. Floyd, of Chicago. The only New Zealand priest who returned was Father M. J. Furlong, of Devonport who spent a holiday in Sydney after the congress.
