ATTEMPT BY TWO MEN. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. CAPETOWN. Oct. 11. The two Dion who aro attempting to walk from Capetown to Cairo, Cooko and Monson, eomploted the first 1000 miles of their walk to-day in 33 days, beating tho record by five days. Tho country was sunbaked and made walking hard. They had wonderful roceptions all along tho route. Mr. A. E. Cooko comes from Melbourne. Mr. 11. A. Monson was recently a reporter on the Went Australian, Perth, which placo he loft on August 18 to join Mr. Cooke, who had suggested tho walk to Cairo.
