MIGRATION TO CANADA.
FLAT RATE OF PASSAGE. PLAN OF FEDERAL MINISTER. Australian Tress Association—United Service (Received October 13, 32.15 a.m.) WINNIPEG. Oct. 12. The Federal Minister of Immigration, Mr. R Forke, announced tho serious consideration by his department of a plan for tho establishment of a flat passage rate of £lO or £l2 for all British immigrants over 17 years of ago. This would do away with tho assisted passage scheme. Ho said British settlers were preferred to Continental immigrants. Mr. Forko has conferred with Mr. John Bracken, the Premier of Manitoba, with regard to (he Federal and Provincial plans regarding immigration.
