HOPE FOR MISS TOBIN.
HELD BY CHINESE BANDITS. MESSAGE SENT FROM CANTON. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received October 12, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Oct. 12. The London Missionary Society has received a cablegram from Canton which says that the position regarding the missionary, Miss Blanche Tobin, who was captured by bandits, is hopeful. Miss Blanche Tobin. formerly of Auckland, was taken prisoner about September 24 by Chinese bandits between Canton and Kwei-lin. . Tho Zenana Missionary Society announced on Soptember 26 that the Rov. C. I. Branchett had left Canton for Kweilin, to negotiato for her release.
