BEAUTIFUL CLIMBERS.
DISPLAY OF WISTARIAS. Wistarias are now in full (lower. Ihey are the most highly-prized oi hardy docicluoua clixubers. lhey succeed in the most exposed positions mid in almost any soil. '1 heir , exceedingly showy racemes oi drooping (lowers arc most effective. For covering pergolas and lor training on verandahs and against the sides oi houses and walls tliey present a most beautiful diplay with their profusion of drooping blossoms in various shades of -purple and lilac and pure whito. Ihe old varieity, sinensis, is still a general favourite, with its pretty lilac blossoms. It. is a rampant grower, and one of the hardiest of the species. W cuichybotrys is a magnificent pure white variety, its (lowers are produced in short, compact racemes Tho different varieties ot multijuga have (lower-stems fully two feet in length The variety multijuga alba when in full flower is one of tho most handsome climbers in cultivation.
Wistarias should bo planted during the v.-ini.cr. They are mostly natives of Japan nnd China. Frictosccus, however, is a native of North America. The variety multijuga fragrans is sweetly scented and has long trusses of flowers. Planted to ramble over pergolas, the long, drooping or pendant (lowers present a magnificent display. Wistarias are also useful for rambling over trees and shrubs or planted in the hedgerows.
