CRIME IN CHICAGO.
VIEWS OF SCOTLAND YARD.
That Scotland Yard could rid Chicago of its criminals in a week, is tho retort mado to tho chief of police of .Chicago, who is quoted as saying: " Scotland Yard detectives would bo as helpless as rank amateurs if they tried to suppress Chicago crima." A Scotland Yard official said: " Scotland Yard men tako a pride in their work and do their utmost, to track criminals and bring them to the dock. Given tho same latitude, tho samo freedom of action and power to adopt tho drastic method of American police, a few of our fellows from the flying squadron would clean up Chicago in a week. Wo had 27 murdors last year and trackod all of them, without adopting tho practices of the America 1 police."-
