PAEROA DEFENCE CLUB. [BY TELEGRAM. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 PAEROA. Friday. At a meeting of tho Paeroa Defence Rifle Club appreciation was expressed of the gift of a cup for competition from Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P. An invitation to visit Waihi on Labour Day was accepted. It was decided to hold (ho first club shoot on October 20. MATCH AT MORRINSVILLE. TERRITORIALS Y. CADETS. [BY TELEGRAM. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MORRINSVILLE. Friday. A rifle shooting match between territorials and defence cadets was won by Corporal Fitness, with a score of 70 out of a possible 75. Tho rauge for all tho matches was 25 yards, there being three practices, five rounds slow,"*five rounds snap, and ten rounds rapid shooting. The prize-winners were as follows: — Cadets: Corporal Fitness, 70, 1; Corporal Stevenson, 68, 2; Cadet Heeps, 67, 3. Others placed were: Corporal A. Wilson, Corporal A. Young, Corporal T. Heeps, Sergeant E. A. Stirling, Corporal N. McGregor, Cadets P. Ensor, G. Lceson and 0. Pickering. Territorials: Private J. Hawkins, 64, 1: Sergeant 0. McLeod, 61, 2; Private G. Oliver, 57, 3. Others placed were: Private B. Watson, Sergeant I. Bodmin, Privates 11. Mellows, E. Bodmin, H. Oatcs, L. Mawhinney, K. Stewart and G. Reynolds.
