RACE.ROUND MOUNT EGMONT TWO AUCKLAND RIDERS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Friday. Forty-eight riders have been handicapped i'oi the cycle road race around Mount Egmont. Only two Auckland riders, J. Lindop and W. K. Francis, have entered. They receive haudicaps of 15m and 23m respectively. S. McCann (New Plymouth), the New Zealand champion, L. Hill and C. Austin "(Christchurch), are on scratch. W. P. Weir (Christchurch), N. Bellringer, R. Yardley (New Plymouth), and J. W. Jordan (Christchurch) receive 10m, while last year's wmnor, C. Tippens, is on the same mark as LinJop. The limit men, R. Doeg, N. Parker, L Kopu and L. Standring (Inglewood), redfive 40m. The race is over tarred roads for a distance of about 95 miles. The Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association last evening upheld the appeal of B. W. Arnst, C. J. Deans and C. Bearman, the placed men in the Round Gorges cycle race, against their disqualification by the Papanui Sports Club for allegedly receiving a motor pace.
