Mr. J. A.'S. McKay moved that tho council sell tho present chambers and site. The motion was lost on the casting vote of the chairman. On Mr. L. A. Johnson's moticln it was resolved that tho sanction of tho Local Bodies Loan Board bo sought for a loan of £9500, the sum of £3625 to be used in remodelli -g the present County Chambers for letting purposes, and £5075 to be used to erect new chambers and furnishings for san'.o, on tho council's property in Itoso Street. Upon such amount being obtained tho clerk was instructed to arrange a poll of the ratepayers, to bo taken at the triennial election of membors next May,
