SUPPOSED ACCIDENT.
MR. H. GOLDSTEIN'S DEATH. FINDING OF THE CORONER. The consensus of opinion among witnesses at tlio coroner's inquest into the death of Mr. Hyman Goldstein, M.L.A., of Sydney, whoso body was found on the rock 3 at Coogec recently, was that ho had met with an accident, and had slipped over the cliffs. At the conclusion of the inquiry the coroner found that Mr. Goldstein died from injuries received, probably through accidentally falling from the cliffs. Mr. Kussell Goldstein, son of the deceased man, said that his father had never said or done anything that might have led him to believo that ho might do himself injury or take his own life. Had ho intended to commit suicide, he thought his father would havo left some letter indicating his intentions. He thought that his .father had cither fallen over accidentally or had gone for a walk and had suddenly been taken ill and slipped over the cliffs. Similar views were expressed by Mr. Samuel Goldstein, a brother of deceased. The latter had lately been "star gazing," hj declared. He was fond of walking, he said, and when he could not sleep he would take a short walk, around the neighbourhood. He was very short-sighted, and could not see well without glasses. Knowing his methodical habits he thought that ho would have left, a note had ho intended to take his own life. His brother was in a sound financial position. A constable stated that it would be an easy matter for an ill, or near-sighted person to slip over the cliffs where the tragedy occurred. Although lie know Mr. Goldstein wore spectacles, he did not find any glasses near the body or in the vicinity.
