NEW ZEALAND NAVY.

APPOINTMENTS TO DIOMEDE. [from our own correspondent.] LONDON, July 5. A number of appointments to H.M.S. Diomedo have been made by the Admiralty. The officers named will join the Diomedo while the ship is refitting in England and will return to New Zealand with her. Commander R. E. Jeffreys, D.S.C., R.N., replaces Commander J. H. Godfrey, the appointment dating from July 16. Commander Godfrey becomes captain as from June 30. Lieutenant-Commander G. C. Harper, R.N. (navigating officer), replaces Commander H. A. Rowley, Lis appointment being dated July 16. Lieutenant G. V. Gladstone, RiN., replaces Lieutenant-Commander S. L. Batason as torpedo officer, his appointment being dated July 30. Engineer-Lieutenant H. A. Biggs is appointed from July 17, vice Engineer Lieutenant J. V. Shaw. Mr. G. H. Cummins, D.S.M., R.N.. warrant engineer, replaces Commissioned Engineer E. E. Well man, as from July 17 Surgeon-Commander T. J., O'Riordan has been appointed to the New Zealand Division, vice Surgeon-Commander G. D Macintosh, and will leave for the' Dominion by the lonic on August 17.
