PAPAKURA AFFAIRS.
WEAR ON HUNUA ROAD. QUESTION OF RECONSTRUCTION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PAPAKTJRA, Monday. The Papakura Town Board met this evening, the chairman, Mr. J. McCall. presiding. A deputation from Hunua Road complained about the state of the road. It was explained that this road had to bear heavy traffic from Guillard's quarry. The position was discussed at length and ultimately the board agreed that the only satisfactory course would be reconstruction. It was decided to apply to the Highways Board for a subsidy toward the cost and meanwhile to negotiate with the quarry company for a cash donation toward maintenance. The works committee reported that the motor tractor and grader was taken over by the board's representatives on August 1 and had been used on the PapakuraClevedon highway, Bench Road and Hunua Road.
