"SHALL AND WILL."
Sir, —I should bo grateful if you would kindly allow mo space for remarks on the uses of "shall and will." In our primary school syllabus, now so much under discussion, it is definitely laid down that lessons be given on the uses of these two words. At any time it is difficult to teach grammar to children unless they hear correct English in their homes. It is especially difficult to impress the correct uses of "shall and will" when one hears them so frequently misused by people who ought to know better. While a definite rule exists in our grammar why not abide by it ? Dominie.
