PARISHIONERS' MEETING.

ST. STEPHEN'S, OPOTIKI. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J OPOTIKI, Friday. The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Stephen's Anglican Church was' held last evening, the vicar, the Kev. J. E. Draper, presiding over a fair attendance. The annual report of the vestry showed a considerably better financial position than at the end of last year, chiefly owing to the efforts of the Ladies' Guild and the introduction of the duplex envelope system of finance. Before the introduction of the system the average offertory was £5 7s 2d, and since the introduction of the system it has twen £9 9s 7d. The year commenced with outstanding accounts of £ll3, which have all been paid, and the new year starts with the total liability of the parish reduced by £124. The vicar congratulated church members on the great improvement shown. The election of officers resulted Vicar's warden, Mr. A. Davis; people's warden, Mr. E. A. Bunkali; vestry, Messrs. A. Braae, S. Bloor, C. Bidweil, T. Pearson, N. Pattle and B, Vickers; hon. auditor. Mr. E. E. Chapman; synodsman, Mr. W. R. Young.
