FRENCH CLUB.
The first meeting of the season of the Auckland French Club was held in the club rooms on Monday evening. There was a very good attendance of members and Mrs. L. Clews (Miss Lola Musseller) was hostess for the occasion. Mr. Ardern, president of the club, made a sKort speech in which he welcomed new members, and said he hoped the meetings this season would be as successful and as enjoyable as last. M. Paul Serre referred to the death in Paris of M. Boefve, whose father had been French Consul in Auckland some vears previously, and who had taken a keen interest in the development of the French Club. During the evening a conversation class, dealing with the subject of a visit to Paris, was led by M. Serre, after which an interesting address was given by Miss Dora Miller on her recent visit to New Caledonia. A humorous monologue was contributed by Miss Margaret Trafford, and a one-act comedy, entitled " Consultations From 1 Till 3," by Madame G. Little and Mr. Ardern, caused much amusement.
