GOLDEN WEDDING.
On Wednesday last the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Cullen, of Waipu, was celebrated at a social gathering at (he Maungaturoto Public Hall. The children and numerous relatives of the esteemed couple arranged a very pleasant function. The occasion was somewhat unique in that of the five persons most intimately connected with the wedding ceremony, which was conducted by the Rev. Gittos, at Waiwaka, on May 9, 1878, four were present at last Wednesday's celebrations. These were Mr. and Mrs. B. Cullen, Mr. Henry Cullen, who gave the bride away, and Mrs. D. Stewart (nee Miss M. Sarah), who was bridesmaid. Mr. W. J. Bailey, who was best man, pasised away at Ellerslie about two years ago. The entertainment, which took the form of a breakfast at 2.30, and a social and dance in the evening, was attended by a very large attendance of descendants, relatives and friends, who all joined in wishing the aged couple a sweet and peaceful evening of life.
