MOUNT ALBERT'S PARKS.
CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA.
Details of the proposed ceremony at the opening of the children's playing area at the Morningside Reserve were outlined bv the Mayor of Mount Albert, Mr. L. E. Rhodes, at the annual meeting of the Mount Albert Domain Board last evening.
The Mayor said the area would be opened on the afternoon of Saturday, May 26. The ceremony would be performed by the Hon. George Fowlds, who, some years ago, had lieen instrumental in securing the reserve for the borough. The A rob a Ladies' League was collecting money to be spent on equipment, and it was hoped to have apparatus valued at over £2OO ready for the opening ceremony. Mr. E. J. Briftain had offered to provide swings valued at. £35 if offers of further apparatus were made bv three others. The Domain Board decided to donate a rbute valued at £4O.
The joint committee of ilio Boroiifrh Council which considered, the plans submitted for the laying out of Gritiblehirst Park and the Morningside Reserve submitted its report to the council, which met later last evening. In both cases the designs of Messrs. E. V. Blake and R, E. Gilmonr were placed first.. The Mayor said all the prize-winning plans would be considered hv the council and its engineer and comprehensive schemes devised for both parks. lie thought the council would Vie ready to submit its proposals to the ratepayers in about three months.
