JO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.

The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Mainly fair weather is indicated in districts northward of Whangarei,' although unsettled at times, with occasional showers. Unsettled at times between Whangarei and New Plymouth, with heavy thunder showers. Squally and boisterous southward of New Plymouth, and in the South Island, with heavy rain, the general outlook indicating chiefly disturbed conditions ruling, but occasional fair, bright periods are likely to intervene. Westerly to northwesterly winds, moderate to strong, squally at times. Seas fairly rough 011 the south-west Tasman Sea, and off the West Coast of New Zealand. Moderate on the East Coast, and elsewhere smooth to moderate. A disturbance of Antarctic character is now centred on the south-west Tasman Sea, where barometric pressure is low. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—The pressuro is still very low in the south Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand. Indications are for moderate to strong north-west to westerly winds, reaching gale force at times, in Cook Strait, and Fouveaux Strait. Seas rough south of Kawhia and Castlepoint, moderate elsewhere. Strong north-west to south-west winds to gales and rough to very rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather slill unsettled with further showers, heavy in the western districts south of Cape Egmont, but mainly light and scattered in the eastern districts and in the far north. Cooler temperatures.
