SERVICE TO TOWN BOARD.

CLERK'S SALARY INCREASED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] MATAMATA, Tuesday. Complimentary references were made, at a meeting of the Mataniata Town Board last evening to the work of the clerk, Mr. C. G. Lucas, who has been less than two years in the board's service. It was stated that Mr. Lucas had saved the board considerable sums of money by his careful and alert administration, and the Government auditor had spoken well of his books.

The board decided unanimously to raiso the clerk's salary from £312 to £564 per anmi m.
