Atkinson presided A fortnightly review of now gramophone records for incorporation in forthcoming programmes was recommended by the committee.
It was considered that a programme in which tho names of artists and the items rendered were not announced would be a welcome novelty for listeners, who would be left to identify the artist and the item given. The chairman stated he frequently met persons who considered that tho doors of the studio were closed to new artists. Exactly the opposite was the case, and the officials at IYA were earnestly endeavouring to secure new artists who were suitable. A scheme was now being considered to obtain new talent, and it was hoped to arrange for the services of visiting artists 'from different towns and districts. »
Dr. Kenneth Phillips brought forward a series of comprehensive and constructive suggestions relating to the arrangement of programmes, which will be discussed at the next meeting, when the director of music, Mr. W. J. Bellingham, will be present. Mr. C. B. Plummer advised that the Auckland Choral Society had offered two excerpts from the final rehearsal of the forthcoming oratorio " Elijah " to be broadcast from the Choral Hall to-morrow evening.
