MILITARY TRAINING.

FINAL INFANTRY CAMP. TROOPS AT NARROW NECK. The final infantry training camp of the year will conclude at Narrow Neck today. Members of the Ist Battalion, Auckland Regiment, who were unable to attend the annual camp at Ngaruawahia have been in training, some for ten days and some for six. Altogether, there are some 200 men at the camp. Notwithstanding that the territorials came from many different companies, a high state of efficiency has been reached. The camp was inspected yesterday by Lieut.-Colonel L. T. H. Dawson, officer commanding tho battalion, who praised tho work of the men, their bearing on parade and the general appearance of tho camp. Ho stressed the importance of the attendance of as many men as possible at the annual camp. Throughout the period of training, work has been carried out on the competition principle, and this has proved most successful, a happy spirit of rivalry imparting keenness to all platoons. Dui'ing yesterday morning, physical drill, platoon drill and route march competitions were held, the various contests being won by No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 platoons respectively. The afternoon was devoted to sports. In addition to several championships, a tabloid athletic meeting was held, being won by No. 4 platoon. A camp concert was held last evening, items being given by the men and visiting artists. Before tho concert ended Captain J. G. C. Wales, M-C., adjutant to the battalion, who acted as camp commandant, was heartily cheered by the men. Results of the sports events are as follows : 100 Yds. Championship.—Private K. J. F. McNaughton, 1; Lance-Corporal A. W. Pile, 2; Private E. E. Edgar, 3. Long jump: Private A. J. Brown, 1; Private S 11. Weeks, 2; Corporal R. R. Kissling, 3 220 Yds. championship: Private McNaughton, 1; Q.M.S._J. L. Hendon, 2; Lance-Corporal Pile, 3. Sack race: Private E. H. T. Campbell, 1; Private L. R. Porter, 2; Private F. Bowman, 3. Obstacle race: Private R. W. T. Hanna, 1; C.S.M. Denize, 2; Corporal Kissling, .1 Officers' race: Lieutenant W. H. Fortune, 1; Lieutenant J. T. Hill, 2; Padre J. ITiddlestone, 3. Marks were given for the various activities during the camp, and No. 4 platoon had tho largest aggregate.
