EXPERIMENTS IN BRITAIN.
EXCELLENT FUEL OBTAINED.
LONDON. Feb. 16. Describing the conversion of coal into petroleum products, the Government Scientific Industrial Research Committee says that experiments have indubitably shown a high pressure of hydrogenation, and a largb proportion of coal is convertible into liquid fuels. But whether it can be established on a commercial scale remains to be seen. Motor-spirit derived by low temperature carbonisation showed itself to be an excellent fuel, with a high benzol equivalent.
