Viewed ptider electric light by an official party of local body representatives for the first time last evening, the new Waihou River Bridge, officially opened yester<fciy by the Hod. A, D. McLeod, presented a fine spectacle. The bridge, which is considered to be one o£ the most ornamental- and faithfully-built of its type in the Dominion, is built in concrete. It carries 12 artistically framed lamps, each of 300 candle power. The centre carriageway, is. flanked both sides by. a footway for pedestrians, who are protected by ornamental wrought iron fences. . The bridge, paHictilariy when viewed at night, undoubtedly provides a hand-: sonic and impressive gateway to Aroh* .
