In the Jerseys the first and champion' bull was a fine animal, and the second also of exceptionally good type, but p*st show age. ■ln grade Jerseys and dairy Shorthorns some exceptionally good animals were exhibited, but the latter showed a tendency toward the beef type in one or two cases. In the sheep classes the dry weather and the heat had militated against moving stock. There were no Southdowns, Shropshire or Border Leicesters shown, and only two English Leicesters. The fat ewes, of which there were eight entries, were of quite good quality. In Romney rams the first and second prizes went to local breeders. Some Ryelands were shown. This breed is coming into favour for fat lambs. Sheep were poorly represented as regards numbers, but there were fine exhibits of Romney®.
