SECOND ROTORUA TOURNEY.

ZONCLUDING STAGE REACHED. SOUTHERN TEAMS IN FINAL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ROTORUA, Thursday. The section ties in the second bowling tournament occupied the morning. The weather was overcast and light rain fell at intervals. Four unfinished games had to be played to find the position of teams in section C," four teams being equal. The play-oS for the section tie in section B between Hart, Hobbs, Condor. Ferkins (Island Bay) and Na6h. Boon, Wight, Fraser (Palmerston North) was a good contest. Ferkins scored on the first head, but on the sixth head Frazer led 9—l. Then Ferkins got a useful five and on the 12th head the score was 12 all. Fraser Boon took the lead and eventually won by 23 to 16. In the section C ties Crawford (Karori), Beynon (Petone). Gordon (Masterton) and Russell (Newton) played II heads. Crawford beat Beynon. 13—6 and Gordon beat Russell, 15—10. To find the winner of the section Gordon and Crawford met in a game of 11 heads. Crawford won by 13 to 8. ' . ■ In the semi-final between Crawford, Neilson, Piatt, Crawford (Karori) and LaSerty. Balser, Garney, Frost (Frankton) the latter started well and Crawford's men, who were not finding the strength of the green, gave him. no support. The game on the fifth head was 10 —1 in favour of Frankton. Crawford gradually improved his position and on the 13th bead was only 4 down. Playing steadily, the Karori team gained the lead on the 17th head, on which Crawford got four. Frost drew level on the next, the score being 16 all. A wild shot by Frost cut out all except one of his bowls on the 19th. Crawford drove this out and got six. to lead 22—16. Karori won. 24—19. The Karori team played a good uphill game and deserved the win. The final will be played to-morrow morning between J. Nash,' Boon. Wight, Fraser (Palmerston North) and Crawford. Neilson. . WEST END CLUB. The semi-final of the singles championship of the West End Club, betwesn Hosking and Clarke, was noteworthy for a remarkable recovery by the former player. At one stage Clarke, in the game of 21 points, led 19 to 5. but thereafter Hosking played some fine shots, and his opponent only scored one more point, while Hosking added 16. PLAY AT WHANGAREL [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI. Thursday. A Hikurangi rink, comprising Williamson. Scott, Lomas and Campbell, visited Whangarei to-day to play a challenge for the White Cup, which, wag dciended by Fraser, Sothern, Orr and Coburn. The defenders won by 24—19. In the final of the Thursday section of the Whangarei Club fours, Muldoon, Miekle, Eriglund and Almao defeated Hopewell, Eccles, Miller and Allen, 22—18, and now meet McKenzie's rink, winners of tho Saturday section, in the club final. In the championship pairs Parry and Chissell defeated Birch and Deverell, 42—29. Several matches in the club championship were decided at the Kensington freen to-day. Results:—Simmons defeated eartne, Horne defeated Simmons, 21—18; Home defeated Woolley, 18—14; Horne defeated Hincston, 21—6. Horne wins the championship. CANTERBURY DEFEATS OTAGO. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, Thursday. On the Roslyn green this afternoon Canterbury defeated Otago by 196 poirfls to 187 in the annual interprovincial match for the Redpath Sh.eld. This is the first occasion in the history of the trophy on which Otago has .'ost on its home green.
