BAND OF HOPE UNION.
f At a meeting of executive of -the Auckland Band of H6pe Union last evening it was stated the annual report will cover a year of unprecedented activity in temperance education throughout the Auckland Province. In town and country Bands of Hope and other gatherings, to which the union has sent speakers, represented an aggregate attendance of over 100,000, The union is non-political, and concentrates upon temperance education, embracing the principles of good Citizenship generally. During the school holidays the nnion inaugurated the Bible vacation school movement in Auckland, inviting Mrs. Cooper, of Honolulu, to come here for that purpose. A lady visitor is now employed visiting the homes. Groups of Children are being assisted in co-opera-tion with the young people's section of the W.C.T.XJ. and the Total Abstinence Society. With a view to bringing Bands of Hope workers together it was decided to hold a temperance banquet at Unity Hall on Thursday, March 8, at six o'clock. A friodel Band of Hope programme and a Conference of workers will be held. Mr. A. Stall worthy, honorary organiser of Ihe union, reports a revival, extension of the union's work, and increasing public appreciation of the work among the young. Tt has been decided to revive the annual Town Hill gatherings.
