AMATEUR CYCLING.
AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. PROSPECTS OF THE RIDERS. The 50 mileß Auckland amateur provincial championship road race handicap will 'be decided over the Auckland-Clevedon course to-morrow. A record entry has been received, and the race appears very open, with prospects favouring the scratch riders, as no fewer than seven of Auckland's best cyclists have been placed on the mark. The limit riders have been given a liberal handicap of 20 minutes, but even with such a good start cannot be seriously considered. On 16 minutes there are eight of the best junior riders in Auckland, who can be depended upon to put up «, good 'ride. Among them are S. Lichfield, W. Parks. A. Rose and A. Sercombe. L. Devlin and G. L. Russell, on 12 minutes, also have bright prospects. The eight-minute riders are a strong combination of good pace-makers, and should make the race interesting. The five-minute men appear to ba safely held. The seven scratch riders are capable of establishing a record for the course. E. J. Blakeway may be the only non-starter in this division. The meeting of M. P Byrnes and J. H. Wade will be followed with interest, and the pair are expected to fight out the finish. C. G. Golbraith and L Wilson must also be given a chance, but H. Dwight and L. G. Chambers, on last Saturday's riding, do not look dangerous. The race will start at 2.15
