RUGBY FOOTBALL.

I THE AUCKLAND UNION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union met last evening:, Mr. H. Frost presiding. Mr. A. Bullians, manager of the three Auckland primary schools teams, which took part in the recent tournament in Hamilton, submitted a report on the tour. Auckland B was beaten in the final by Thames \ alley by 13 points to 9. The outing was most enjoyable, and the behaviour of all the boys ■was all that could bo desired. The writer suggested the Union should write to the Hamilton tlnion expressing appreciation for the kindness extended the teams, particularly mentioning the people who biheted the boys. The tour could not have been undertaken without the Union s financial assistance. '

The repoit was adopted. Mr. J. F. 'Potter, manager of the Auckland B touring team, submitted a report stating that the team travelled over 500 miles by rail, motor and boat, and played four hard-fought games, the last three in four days. Of the four games, that against Rotorua and Taupo combined was easily the best, the sparkling back play being an eyeopener to the spectators. In the Bay of Plenty there were many fine players, who possessed all the qualifications necessary to make t-heiip mark in big football. The report xvas adopted.

A letter from the Rotorua Rugby Union, expressing apprfciation of the sterling play and gentlemanly and sportsmanlike conduct of the Auckland B touring team, was received by; the committee with satisfaction. It was decided to write to the Auckland University Club, pointing out that in the event of wet weather continuing, it may be possible that the match against Victoria College (Wellington) will have to be played on a ground other than No. 1 at Eden Park on September 17. The secretary reported that the Otago touring team would arrive in Auckland tomorrow morning. The action of the chairman m arranging fo r a rrnsh ball match to be played during the interval of the representative game at ■ Eden Park on Saturday, was endorsed. Whitehead equalised for the home team with a try, which Udy converted. In the second spell Callender kicked a penalty goal for the visitors.'but Bush took the lead again. Galvin scoring. Until a few minutes before time was called Bush still maintained the lead, having much the better of the exchanges. Then Wilson, the Otstgo fullback, ran up and started a passing bout. Stewart made a great, run and Webb scored in the corner. Then Peterson got away, outstripped the fullback and scored a clever solo try. Callender converted. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union a letter was received from the Referees' Association, stating that the following Resolution had been carried at a meeting of the latter body:; "That this association protests to the Rugby Union against the radio broadcaster making continued personal comments on the rulingß of referees." It was decided that the letter be received. THE PIAKO UNION. [BV TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AROHA, Wednesday. The Piaktf Rugby Union met last evening. Mr. A. J. Hepburn presiding. Arrangements for the match with WniJcatp were completed, and the Franklin Union nptiiied its intention of visiting Te Aroha on September 17.
