THREE BLANKETS STOLEN. ACCUSED GIVEN A CHANCE. The theft of three blankets, valued at £1 2s 6d, the property of Charles Anderson, was admitted by Mark Webber, aged 49, in (ho Police Court yesterday. The chief detective said accused took the blankets from a boarding house where he was staying and sold them to a pawnbroker. He was under the influence of liquor at the time, and when he heard that inquiries were being made he gave himself up at the police station. He had a number of previous convictions, but his trouble was due to drink. He was willing to go into the country if given a chance. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months. For being drunk in Alison's Avenue, Devonport, Frederick William McKearney, aged 38, was fined £l, and for a third breach of a prohibition order he was fined £2.
