COST OF THE DESTRUCTOR. The JUevonport Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Air. E. Aldridge, presiding. It was stated £I4OO was available as Devonport's proportion of the cost,of the new destructor to be used by the Devonport, Takapuna and Northcote Borough Councils. The total cost of the destructor was stated to be £6OOO and the price of the site £650. Before the acceptance of a tender each borough will raise a special loan to defray the capital cost of the destructor. The draft agreement was approved. In viow of improvements made to firefighting equipment it was decided to ask the Auckland Fire Underwriters' Association for a reduction of fire insurance premiums in the borough. Mr. C. M. Browne objected to the plan of the proposed Stanley Bay Park, which showed a channel 2£ft. deep and 28ft. wide, extending along two sides of the area. It was a risk to children, said Mr. Browne, and wouid prove annoying to football and cricket players. It was decided to obtain the opinion of a consulting engineer. Majors A. 11. Wilkie and J. A.
