MOTOR PROSECUTIONS.

TRAFFIC BY-LAWS BROKEN.

MANY PENALTIES IMPOSED.

NO HEAVY TRAFFIC LICENCE

Numerous prosecutions for breaches of motoring regulations were heard in the Police CJourt yesterday, before Mr. W. It. McKean, S.M.

On a charge of operating a lorry at Newmarket without a heavy traffic licence A. Morey was fined £ls, and for operating the lorry without a heavy traffic in-dication-disc he was fined £l. He was also fined 10s on each of two charges of not having a driver's licence and not having a reflector on the lorry. For using a lojry without a heavy traffic licence B. J. W. Taylor was fined £lO, and for using an expired disc was fined 10s. For using an expired disc S. McLean was fined £l, and a similar charge against E. W. Brogan was dismissed on payment of costs.

On charges of negligent driving A. C. Evans and A. L. Robson were fined £2 each, and W. G. Heares £l, . while for speeding R. Clements and D. Deeley were fined £3 each, W. E. Lewisham, H. J. Maxwell, A. F. Naylor, and J. Park £2 each, and F. Harris £l. For breaches of parking regulations H. W. Taylor, A. McDonald, Hilda Northcroft, F. H. Gunble, J. C. Colquhuon, J. P. Evans, A. A. Donald, and H. Morgan were fined 10s each, while J. Hyman was ordered to pay costs 16s. H. J. Kelliher was fined 10s for parking a car at an angle to the footpath and 5s for leaving a car unattended in Queen Street, while for driving without a licence he was ordered to pay costs. For driving without a licence R. Bree was fined 10s.

For passing stationary trams May Maddox was fined £2, and A. Dye £1 10s, while P. G. F. Palmer was ordered to pay costs, £2 2s. R. E. O'Brien and A. Tomlinson were fined £2 each for having insufficient lights, and for similar offences W. Moir and W. 0. Twigg were each fined 10s.

Fines of £1 each were imposed on Wah Tang and E. Perks for failing to obey traffic officers.

For failing to notify changes of ownership, F. J. Harris and A. E. Warde, Ltd., were fined £1 each, and Hatrick and Company, Ltd., were ordered to pay costs. For using a vehicle without an endorsed certificate W. H. Ross was ordered to pay costs.
