ONE TREE HILL AFFAIRS.

PROGRESS OF ROAD WORKS. The One Tree Hill Road Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. R. G. Clark, presiding. The engineer reported that work on Campbell Crescent had been completed, with the exception of joining the kerbs. A footpath had- been formed in front of new houses in Market Road, and footpaths were being laid in five streets. The concreting of a portion of Great South Road was progressing favourably. It was decided to write to the Onehunga Borough Council with a view to arriving at an amicable settlement regarding the maintenance of three new boundary roads arising out of the recent amalgamation of a portion of One Tree Hill with Onehunga. A tender for kerbing and channelling in Green Lane Road and Pukenui Road was let to McCarten Bros., Onehunga, for £548. The proposed preparation of surveys and plans of a joint outfall sewer from the Ellerslie septic tank, through the One Tree Hill district, into the Onehunga sewer, was favoured,-as suggested at a recent conference of representatives of the Onehunga borough and the Ellerslie, One Tree Hill and Mount Roskill districts. The conference was called by the medical officer of health with a view to rectifying the Ellerslie septic tank nuisance. The suggestion is subject to the confirmation of the local bodies concerned. It was agreed to- apprcxich the Cornwall Park trustees with a view to obtain ing the use of an area in Green Lane Road as a playing ground for children. The building inspector reported that 20 permits had been issued during the past three weeks for the erection of buildings involving £8605.' Since April 1, 51 dwellings ancf 17 garages had oeen built.
