MT. ALBERT BOROUGH AFFAIRS.

Sir, —I think "Urewera's" letter in Wednesday's Heraud in connection with Mount Albeit affairs shows tiiat he has not grasped the situation. The engineer has been asked to resign and if he does not resign the council has threatened that a very drastic motion will be put forward at next meeting. The engineer has not the slightest idea why the council should ask for his resignation, as no charges have been placed before him. The case is similar to hanging a man without trial. 1 presume it is on account of this lack of justice that the Society of Civil Engineers has protested and, in my opinion, it would be a very poor society if it did not stand by a member and see that justice was done. Let the council bring the charges before Mr. Cook and if he has not a good answer to them, then the Society of Civil Engineers will be, I should think, the first to back up the council and let Mr. Cook take his medicine. Fairplay.
