WOMEN AS ELDERS

gi rj —As a woman and a member of tho Presbyterian Church, I have been very much annoved by the attitude adopted by the Rev. L. H. Hunt concerning the above subject. It is in a great measure due to the retention of such narrowminded sentiments as those expressed by him that the church is losing its hold over the enlightened minds of the young people of to-day. Mr Hunt bases his ideas upon the teachings of St. Paul. For the last 2000 years St. Paul has been regarded by many as the Bote authority on the conduct and duties of women. Will his tyranny never cease 1 X have understood that the church recognises only one perfect life. Why then should * such emphasis be placed upon the words of one who, after all, was only a man? Can Mr. Hunt find one word spoken by Christ which relates In anv way to the" subordination of women T y L.M.L.
