The following are the results of the countv cricket matches which ended today : Playing against Middlesex, Surrey in their first innings made 370 for five ■wickets, and declared (Sandham 121. Ducat 100). Middlesex in the first innings made 139 (Hendren 86). Peach took five wickets for 65. In the second innings they scored 37 for no wickets. Surrey won on the first innings. Playing against Lancashire Kent, in their "first innings, made 241 (Knott 96, Valentine 61). McDonald took bve wickets for 73. Lancashire in their first innings made 351 for seven wickets (E. Tyldesiey 13.5 not out). Lancashire won on the first innings. . Playing for Essex against Glamorgan Hipkin took seven wickets for 34. For Glamorganshire Ryan took five for 70. Essex won. For Gloucestershire again st ilampsniie Dipper made 100, and Parker took eight for 32. For Hampshire Newman took seven for 126. Gluocestershire won. For Derbyshire against Notts btorer made 148. The match was drawn. For North ants against Sussex Jnpp took five for 43. For Sussex Whittaker took five for 36. Sussex won. Rain interfered •with all the matches USE OF PENDULUM STROKE. The "St, George Rugby League Club has decided to send a cablegram to the "Auckland League intimating that it will be prepared to visit New Zealand at the end of the present season. NEW ZEAISIND HOCKEY TEAM. GOOD VICTORY AT GOULBURN. * | A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, Aug. 9. The New Zealand hockey team had a decisive victory at Goulburn over the Kenmore Hospital team, by 10 goals to 0. The gaipe was fast and open. The combination of the visitors and their clever stickwork were far too good for the local players. CHINESE FOOTBALLERS' LOSSES. DISSENSIONS END THE TOUR. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, Aug. 10. It appears that the abrupt termination the tour -of the Chinese Association football team was the outcome of internal dissensions in the team which, presumably, arose over financial matters. Several s members refused to continue tha tour. This led to the abandonment of several important matches which were to have been played in Queensland, from ■which it was hoped to recoup some of the losses made in the other States. The loss will fall heavily upon the joint managers of the team, Professor ELwong and Mr. C. Woo, who guaranteed the finances of the tour. WORLD SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP. GOODSELL AND BARRY PREPARE. A. and N.Z. VANCOUVER. Aug. 9. Major Goodsell and his challenger, Bert Barry, are practising energetically every day on Burrard Inlet, on which Vancouver stands, in preparation for the sculling race for the world's championship on September 5. '• The weather and the water are ideal for training. RUGBY TOUR OF DOMINION. BRITISH ' COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY. A. and N.Z. VANCOUVER. Aug. 9. The University of British Columbia proposes to send a Rugby team to tour New Zealand, in return for the visits of the Maori team and the All Blacks in 1925 srid last year. »
