Some first-class racing was Provided at Addington to-day, when the second day o the New -Zealand Metropolitan Tr°ttm Club's Sleeting was held The t™ckwas in excellent order. A ter the Impr Handicap A. E. Bussell, dnver o. the winner, Tamerlane, was called before Judicial Committee, and his hccnc suspended for three months i char f < ;® d undue use of his whip and looking round. An appeal was lodged against the • Tamerlane trotted a splendid race n t.ie Improvers' Handicap, showing plenty ot speed and stamina. He is anything Bound, otherwise he would bo racing m the best company. R. Townle:? would have had little difficulty in getting second money had he kept Nelson MeKrnr.ey going a!, the way up the straight. The South Canterbury trainer does not usually make these mis takes. Native Star was backed, but after a good beginning the Island trotter broke, and soon was out of.tne con test. Bridget Galindo was going «eU When she broke up witn less than a roupd to go. She vault] not settle down aga.n and Tomkinson wisely palled her up. • on the first day. Guy Parrisn failed to K away at the start. Once he struck hi. gait the American stallion showed a line turn of speed. , , 0 ., i„ c O ,. Fashion Queen. Pomtalena and Billy be£ ®ll refused to leave the mark m the Handicap. Author Jinks easily accounted for Mountain Chimes on the first day. and the later finished second to tho brilliant South Canterbury pacer to-day. Author Jink 3 gradually made up his ground u'H'U three furlongs froir. thome, wnen he put in R brilliant dash, wnich placed the result beyond doubt. He has a great burs.) or speed, and as he. can stay, he is going to play a prominent part in important twomile events later on. Countryman was going as v/ell as Author Jinks aiong the back wtre.trh. but when the real pressure came at the three furlong post tho big Pacer broke up and took no further part in the race. Brutus paced a good race, r irp/J----who was solidly backed, began very well. but broke up before going many yards, and Practically took uo part in the race. Loganwood. who won the King George Handicap, is one of the- most- consistent Pacers in commission He is particularly brilliant over short courses, and when ngm on the top of his form he can go a fast two-mile journey/ especially if the nrst part is run at a slow speed. He has done a lot of racing but he is a very sound horse und he will win a lot more money. .On the first day of this meeting he was driven bv M. Holmes, but to-day he was handled by L. Frost, who has been associated with tbe gelding in a number of his successes, #nd drives him with ereat- iudgment. Golaen Devon, who is a brilliant sprinter, secured second money. He owed this result to the fact that the race was run Just to suit him Peterwah gave a fine exhibition of trotting, in spite of a couple of breaks.

Kiw- oody ai- °ld Bunvood was on his best behaviour and paced a sound race, although " c _,". at l none the best of the going. I risco Beau is a greatly improved trotter 111 harness. He does not seem to possess i am ° ul jt of speed, but lie is very reliable, and he has stamina. He should win more races this season. Young Blake trotted a solid race all through the Avon Handicap. The race lost ?> interest when Kola Boy, John -Mauritius and Trampfast (the favourite) stopped at the end of two furlongs. At the time Tramp fast was in front of the backmarkers. with Kola Boy behind him. Young iliHka came in slightly when rounding the turn, and at the same time the favourite went to s pace and was being steadied. Jms caused Kola Boy to eet his leg in the wheel of Trampfast's sulky, while John Mauritius had to be pulled up. Trampfast was taken out of the sulky, and the wheel was removed, after which Kola Boy's leg was got out from between the spokes. During this time Kola Boy stood still. The horses were, got off the trnck just in time to allow the field to pass them in the next round. f'ght Ever was on his best behaviour In 1 the Canterbury Handicap, and he paoed an i even race throughout. It was not until half a mile from homo that Kennerley set the pacer at his best speed. Fight Ever responded well and soon put the issue ' beyond doubt. It -was a capital performarice. The speed set by Great Earl and William the Great settled the latter nearly I half a mile from home, but Great Earl struggled on until half a furlong from the post and finished fourth. Money Spider, who was well backed, gave one of his worst displays since he has been racing with the pacers. Of the three Auckland-trained pacers in (he Speedway Handicap Nelson Fame and Lady Dunmore performed very indifferently, but Jewel Pointer put up a good race. He was one of the leaders all the way, and only failed in the last 100 yds. Logan Chief seemed quite unable to race ; with the field over the concluding stages, i The big pacer looks well, but he is not j putting much dash into his work. Imprint, I in spite of his hard races, seems to be ! keeping sound. The Nelson pacer is not I seen to the best advantage on a small track, but enough has been seen of him at this meeting to show that he is a great pacer. St Maura is a trifle uncertain at the start of her run, but once on the journey she is a brilliant pacer. The Australian pacer Concliffe was expected to do great things at this meeting, and certainly his track form warranted the contention. So far he has been very expensive .to his connections. ALLEGED - " RINGING-IN." UNFOUNDED REPORTS. NO RECENT CASES IN DOMINION. [BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday. , << J am pleased to say that there havebeen no recent cases in New Zealand of fruadulent practices, such as occurred some years ago There was no foundation for the circulation of leports of cases of alleged ' ringing-in stated the president of the Board «f the New Zealand Trotting Association, Mr. J. EI. Williams, in his report to the annual meeting last evening. The report said that there still appeared to be present in the minds of some people a fear of a recurrence of what was termed " rin"infr-in." It was due mainly to that feeling that several reports were circulated in the past season, all of which had been fully inquired into, i " For fhe most part this entailed much inquiry and expense." continued the report. "It is pleasing to find that there whs no foundation for the circulation of the reports. RACE PERMIT DISPUTE. SUPPORT FOR CONFERENCE. [St TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] STRATFORD. Wednesday. September 2 and 3. 1927. Nominations for all events, including Trial Plate and Novice Stakes, close tomorrow (Friday), at !) p.m., with the secretary. Mr. A. Way, at Marton. With commendable promptitude the Hallway Department has just completed erecting a loading bank at the Marton Junction railway statipn, on the northern side of the station, with a capacity for iinloading four double waggons at a time Ihis will prove a great boon to visiting trainers to the Marton Jockey Club's meetings, as it will save them a roundabout journey ot about a mile to the racecourse stables and ensure quicker despatch in loading and unloading by the railway employees on account of its exceptional locality. There is no doubt that visitors to the Marton Spring Meeting on September 2 and 3 will greatly appreciate this innovation.
