KAURI GUM CONTROL.
Sir,—At a public meeting of genuine gumdiggers, held at Hounora on the afternoon of August 7, I was directed to write you in reference to statements made by Mr. A. W. Blucher. anent gumdiggers and their desire to have the Kauri Gum Industry Control Act abandoned, which appeared in the Herald of July 23 last. The meeting was attended by practically the whole of Sir. Blucher's work-mates, and was unanimous in its opinion that Air. BBlucher is not, nor ever was, the representative of the diggers, nor anyone else in the neighbourhood of Houhora, and consequently in speaking for them as a representative gumdigger from Houhora without being commissioned to do so he has done them an injury which they verv much resent. Likewise, he has done the" Auckland brokers of gum an injury by giving them a very incorrect idea of the feeling of gumdiggers. generally regarding the brokers' present methods of dealing with the diggers, and his feeling toward the Kauri Gum Industry Control Act. The., same meeting passed a unanimous vote of confidence in the personnel and appreciation of the work of the Kauri Gum Control Board. This resolution shows just the opposite of what Mr. Blucher has stated. ' E- McDottgatl. Secretary. Houhora-Waihopo Control Board Association.
