STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR.

CLAIM FOR £4lO DAMAGES. MOUNT EDEN ROAD ACCIDENT. VICTIM CROSSING TO TRAMCAR. Arising out of an accident in Mount Eden Road on the evening of March 12, when an elderly pedestrian was knocked down by a motor-car while she was crossing the road to board a tramcar, a claim for £4lO damages was made by Emma Sowden, widow (Mr. Hogg), against George Isaac Burnnand, engineer (Mr. Holmden), in the Supreme Court yesterday, before Mr. Justice Ilcrdman. Mr. Hogg said plaintiff and her daughter left their homo on the main road about seven o'clock in (he evening to catch a tram at the Point Street stop. They left the footpath near the actual stopping-place to cross in a diagonal di lection to the tramline. The two had not gone far when plaintiff was struck bv a motor-car travelling toward the city and was carried some distance. Witnesses would be called to show the pace of the car was fast. After the circumstances of the accident had been outlined by plaintiff, the hearing was adjourned until this morning.
