NEW LYNN AFFAIRS.
TOWN BOARD MEETING. The New Lynn Town »Board met on Tuesday evening. Mr. W. L. Titchener presided, and there were also present Messrs. R. P. Ward, J. Hughes and J. A. Fielding. The building inspector reported that since the last meeting permits for two dwellings, of an estimated co£t of £I2OO, had been issued, and that at present there are eight buildings in course of erection. The sanitary inspector stated that a case of scarlet fever had been reported and that the patient was now in the Public Hospital. The board was notified by its traffic inspector that since power had been given to issue drivers' licences 80 licences had been issued and 93 renewals granted. The question of suitable bus stops was again urged by the inspector, and, on his recommendation, the board decided to write to the City Council asking them if it would adhere to the stops decided on by the board It was resolved to hold each workman responsible for the upkeep of tools issued to him. A request from the Traffic Inspectors' Association for financial assistance was declined. A letter was received from Mr. D. B. f'usseil in connection with the proposed canal. It was decided to support the scheme. The General Carriers' Association wrote asking if it were possible to have numbers affixed 10 gate, posts instead of to houses. Members pointed out that at present no houses had official numbers attached, and no further action was taken.
