NEWS BY WIRELESS.

PROBLEM !N AUSTRALIA. BROADCASTING DIFFICULTY. (Received June 9. 9.4G p.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, .Tune 9. In giving evidence before the Wireless Commission Mr. T. M. Shakespeare, secretary of the New South Wales Country Press Association, referred to the proposal that the Country Press Association should broadcast news in Morse. Witness said the latter association was menaced by the question of royalties. It did not, know where it stood. Had it not been for this question the scheme of broadcasting to the country press would already have been in operation. Mr. 11. Brown, secretary to the Post-master-General, said tho time might not be far distant when it might be necessary to link up the whole telephone system of the Commonwealth with some wireless service. Telegraphy, telephony and wireless were so related that it had become essential for his department to have its own research branch.
