FURTHER FRICTION CAUSED.

CHEKA LEADER SLAIN. CAPTIVE FORCIBLY FREED, « WHY VOIKOFF WAS SHOT. ANTI-BRITISH ACTIVITY.

Another cause of friction between Russia and Poland has arisen. An attack was made by White Russians upon a party of agents of the Cheka and a Polish prisoner in their charge was liberated. The affair occurred near Minsk, Western Russia. There was a brisk fight in which the commander of the Cheka agents and the driver of the car were killed. The youth who assassinated Mr. Peter Voikoff, Soviet plenipotentiary representative, at Warsaw says ho committed the crime for no party but for national Russia against the Third (Communist) International. This crime has aroused indignation in Poland. On the other hand the Soviet's Note on the subject has caused a painful impression. The Polish Government disclaims responsibility for the crime. A number of Russian monarchists have been arrested in Poland. Moscow is in mourning for the murdered Minister and preparations 'are being made for a great funeral. The attempt of the Soviet Government to make political capital out of the Voikoff murder is deprecated in Britain and France. That the effort has nevertheless born© fruit is evidenced by ugly anti-British demonstrations throughout Russia. An amazing -series of charges against Britain has been issued by the Soviet.
