Woodfuii and Benaford gave a delightful exhibition oi batting, and put on 223 runs for the first wicket. This is Ponsford's sixth century during the - present, season, and this constitutes an Australian record. Andrews made many fins shots, and took no risks. Macartney on going in to bat. was given, an. enthusiastic ovation by the' 25.000 spectators. He was also cheered by the Rest of Australia, led by Victor. Richardson. A feature of the game was the wicketkeeping by O'Connor, who allowed only one bye to be scored. In the grade cricket matches at Melbourne yesterday,. >- playing for East Melbourne against Richmond, Millar made 101. For University against Carlton, King made 123 not out.
