REVISED PRAYER BOOK.
USE of new servige. BISHOP'S REMARK AND SEQUEL. (Received Feb. 19, 5.5 p.m..) A. and N.Z. LONDON. Feb. 19. In the course of a recent speech in Australia the Bishop of London, Dr. A. F. Winnington Ingram, is reported to have said; "A silly person who has a church about the size of an office-table ■ has used the revised Prayer .This has caused some concern. Dr. Geikie' Cobb, rector of the church of St Ethel burg and the Virgin, Bishopsgaie, who is believed to be the person referred to, says the remark is so unusual that he hopes there was some error in the cabled account. In any case he would not' like to reply to the bishop now. It would be | more courteous to refrain at present as the | bishop is his superior officer. [ Dr. Geikie Cobb, robed in the eocharistic ;- vestments, the chasuble and the nsaniple, | and attended at the altar of his church by women as servers, ion Sunday, Feb--1 raary 13. used the form of service pro- [ vided for in the new Prayer Book. A { man in the congregation then rose and prof tested against the continuance of the ser- | vice- because the new Prayer Book' had. j not been ratified. | Dr. Cobb said that such an interruption { could legally be -classified as brawling. He I explained that he desireu to allow the f congregation to see how the service' i worked. Thereupon a woman rose and {'briefly joined in'the protest. She then L : .wa?ked out accompanied' by the male inj terjector. '
