PREVENTION OF CRUELTY.

Sir,—lt would be a great help to the inspector of the S.P.C.A. if all people who report cases of cruelty would give their names and addresses when writing to him. He receives many anonymous letters and is often hindered by insufficient or vague information. Writers need have no {ear of any unpleasant publicity, as all correspondence is treated confidentially. Captain Lee's work is increasing daily, and as it has been found that anonymous letters have often been the outcome of neighbourly ill-feeling they cannot be acted upon. I write on behalf of the inspector and as a member of the committee. A. Thevixiiick.
