WAR SECRET REVEALED.
DEVICE OF ADMIRALTY.
BRITISH MYSTERY TOWERS.
ANTI-SUBMARINE USAGE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received Feb. 9, 7.55 p.m.) Sun. LONDON. Feb. 8. The Daily Mail says the Admiralty considers it now safe to reveal the purpose of two mystery towers 80ft. high, which cost £1,200,000 each. These towers were built during the war. One replaced the Nab lightship and the other was broken up. They were designed to be the forerunners of many similar towers, which it was intended to erect on the Straits of Dover. These were to have been linked up by nets, heavily fortified and equipped with searchlights. Their purpose was to baffle German submarines.
