NEGLIGENT MOTORING.
DEATH OF TWO PERSONS. DRIVER OF CAR CONVICTED. [El' TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday.
Pleas of guilty were entered by Henry Denham in the Supreme Court to-day to charges of negligently driving a motorcar and causing death. There were four charges against Denham, as follow:—(1) Unlawfully killing Evelin Blanche Hildebrand and committing manslaughter; (2) negligently driving a motor-car and causing tho death of Evelin Blanche Hildebrand; (3) unlawfully killing David Forsyth and committing manslaughter; (4) negligently driving a motor-car and causing the death of David Forsyth. The charges arose from an accident that occurred on the Yaldhurst Road, Riccarton, on November 6. Denham was returning from the races in a motor-car and had picked up some passengers, and he swerved across the road and struck a tramway pole. When Denham pleaded guilty to the two other charges, those of manslaughter were withdrawn and accused was remanded to appear for sentence on Friday. Bail was allowed.
